Venn Gable House

_
A straw-filled family home with space for everyone
Sneak peak! Construction isn’t finished, but we stopped by and things look so good that we couldn’t help but share the progress.

Venn Gable House combines two of our favorite things: simple forms and Venn diagrams. The name comes from the way that the gabled wings intersect in the middle to form one mega-gable. This overlap: creates a dramatic double-height space in the primary living space, reconciles some geometric complexity at the roof, and sidesteps future water issues.

Floor Plan. From Left: Primary Suite, Kitchen & Living Room, Mudroom & Utilities, Play Space & Secondary Living Room, Children’s Suite.

Over time the vertical Eastern White Cedar siding will silver and draw nearer to the gray tone of the standing seam metal roof.

Thick walls translate to cozy window seats & ledges for plant friends.

The primary living space. From left: the pantry, a guest bath on the way to the primary suite, and a view into the loft.

At the center of the building, the roof plane at the far right intersects with the roof plane at the far left to form one large gable.
